The Process
1. Finding a Celebrant
Finding a celebrant can be overwhelming as there are so many great celebrants to choose from (many of whom I am great friends with so if I am not available, I can give you some great suggestions).
The secret to finding a good celebrant is to get in early. There are only 52 Saturdays in a year, and most couples want to get married at 4pm on a Saturday. So that really limits availability. So please get in touch to see if I am available on your wedding date as soon as possible.
2. No obligation chat
We can then organise a no obligation chat over zoom to discuss my services and your ideas.
I can offer suggestions on how we can work together to make the ceremony amazing. It is advisable if you decide to go ahead with me after having a chat, to book in as soon as possible to secure the date.
4. Ceremony planning
Having brainstormed some ideas and given you a ceremony guide, I will give you some time to put your thoughts together. About 8 weeks before the wedding, we will catch up to create your ceremony. This is the fun bit.
5. The rehearsal
A week or two before the wedding, we will catch up to run through a few final details including checking the legal paperwork. This is a great opportunity to run through and shake off any nerves. It is not necessary to have the full wedding party in attendance as I will speak to everyone involved on the day. But it’s a great opportunity for us to get together and check in before the big day.
6. The Big day
I will arrive an hour before to ensure that everything is in order and to chat to the wedding party to explain what will happen. At this stage, everything is in place and the only thing left for you to do is to relax and enjoy yourselves.
3. Completing the legal paperwork
After you have confirmed the booking and paid the deposit. It’s time to get the ball rolling. The first step is to complete the legal paperwork.
Certain legal documents are required in Australia to ensure that your wedding is legally binding. These documents required include:
A Notice of Intention to Marry (NOIM) must be lodged with me at least one month before the wedding ceremony
Original Birth Certificates along with a photo ID or a Passport
Where applicable, a previous spouses Death Certificate or Decree Absolute may be required
Prior to the wedding a signed Declaration of Marriage to confirm that you are legally free to Marry and there is no reason why the wedding can’t go ahead.
2 witnesses over the age of 18 years on the day at your marriage ceremony
